Poppy Stand Features

Versatile inventory allows for two important things: (1) for us to reach and work with more customers and (2) for our customers to tweak the item to fit their individual needs and vision. The Poppy Stand is certainly one of our more popular and versatile items. With a large built-in cooler equipped for dry ice, the Poppy Stand has the ability to hold three 5-gallon ice cream buckets side-by-side (or anything else you’re wanting to keep cool). It also includes a customizable sign! Below you’ll find:

  1. Three ideas of how to make the Poppy Stand your own
  2. How we created each individual look
  3. A list of other things you can transform the Poppy Stand into

We All Scream for Ice Cream

First, is to use this stand for the reason it was made: ice cream! Here in AZ where the heat can reach 115*, ice cream is a most welcome treat. It is also cheap to buy and easy to manage.  For our ice cream “look” we wanted to keep it simple. We bought waffle cones from our local grocery store and dipped the tops in chocolate and sprinkles! We aren’t necessarily sure if we saved money doing that ourselves, but it did allow for some fun family bonding time! Once the cones were ready, we plopped them into one of our large glass jars and used it for a decoration ( and to eat once our other cones ran out!). For the ice cream cups, we found some adorable black and white ones to match the Poppy Stand itself! And that’s it!

The Sweet Shoppe

As mentioned above, some of our favorite toppings for ice cream include candy. And if you’ve ever been in a candy store, you know that candy can have a stand for itself! The colors, flavors, and sensations are enough to put a smile on anyone’s face! For our Sweet Shoppe look, we wanted to capture the excitement candy brings, so we went for color. We made a playful banner out of patterned cardstock paper we bought from hobby lobby and let it drape over our Sweet Shoppe sign. Our white plant stands were placed on both sides of the Poppy Stand in order to create dimension and hold more of our candy-filled, glass apothecary jars. To hand out the candy, we used these cute, colorful, flower-like bowls from Hobby Lobby.

Juice Bar

Stepping away from the sugar, we created our third look, the Juice Bar. This was probably the most satisfying to create. For this look we wanted to scream “natural”, so we clipped branches from a family member’s orange tree and placed them across the ledge of the Poppy Stand. We then filled natural-colored baskets with oranges and lemons and placed them to one corner of the ledge. Trickling around those baskets were strawberries. On the other corner sat a glass pitcher with our fresh raspberry lemonade. Draping over our Juice Bar stand was a cardboard sign from Hobby Lobby where we wrote “Fresh Squeezed”. To continue with the earthy theme, we put our rustic wine barrel in front of the Poppy Stand and placed our hand press juicer on top surrounded by oranges. In front of the poppy stand on the other side, we placed our natural colored crates.
